The Minnesota Shubert Center continually facilitates meaningful experiences for students and teachers that have an incredible impact on learning and teaching. Here are what just a few participants have to say about their experience participating in a Minnesota Shubert Center Education Program.

What a great opportunity for a rural school to increase access to the arts.
John Kleinwolterink, Music Director, Morris Area Middle School

Awesome! When can we do this again?
Student, Lanesboro High School

This program brought the world of the artist into our classroom.
Teacher, Thief River Falls High School

My students had the pleasure of working with Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra percussionist Earl Yowell and have seen and heard unique instruments that they would never have been exposed to otherwise. This technology is so amazing! Students were even able to echo clap patterns with Earl. The students think it is great to work with an artist that is so far away and yet feels like he is in the room with us. We hope to take advantage of this opportunity many times in the future.
Ann Newell, Music Teacher, Cleveland Elementary School, Fergus Falls

It was an absolutely wonderful experience! After their session, my students came back to the room, I put on our Nutcracker music and videotaped the group dances that they created. What a wonderful opportunity for students to be able to do something like this! The children were still doing their dance steps as we headed out the door at the end of the day.
Margo Tessman, Third Grade Teacher, Birch Grove School for the Arts, Brooklyn Park

Every teacher, every school and every artist should be using this technology. It’s easy. It’s effective. It’s a great tool to expand on existing curriculums in the arts and an opportunity to expose teachers and students to artists. As a technology-illiterate arts administrator, I was overjoyed that even I could hook up the equipment and make it work! That being said, there’s no reason for ANYONE to think they can’t do this.
Rebecca Petersen, A Center for the Arts, Fergus Falls

Many of our boys are pretty apprehensive about their trimester ballet unit, but I saw them trying the dance steps and having a great time. The fifth graders were talking about the session and practicing the dance steps in the lunch line! They met the dancers, learned a dance and saw some steps that they’ll see next week at the ballet we will all attend. I expected the students to have a positive experience, but I didn’t expect the level of excitement that I felt from them. The experience was very interactive and powerful.
Joan Magnuson, Media Specialist, Birch Grove School for the Arts, Brooklyn Park

My photography class has the opportunity to hear and talk to Robin
Hickman, grandniece of Gordon Parks and Walter Griffin, a
Minneapolis-based professional photographer. Without the help and
programs offered at the Minnesota Shubert Center, my students would not
have had these great experiences. The staff at the Shubert is very
accommodating, professional and fun to work with. I highly recommend
the programs at the Minnesota Shubert Center for any school district
looking for arts education opportunities beyond the classroom.
Rick Hultman, Media Specialist, Hinckley/Finlayson High School
